The practice operates a triage system for on the day requests. This means when you are ill and feel you need to see a doctor the same day. Please call the practice and following a brief conversation with the receptionist, you will be added to the triage list. The duty doctor will work through that list by telephoning each patient. It is not possible to give you an exact time of when the doctor will call, so please make sure the recption team are aware of your contact details for that day. As a result of the telephone call there will be an outcome which could be one of the following:

  1. The doctor asks you to come in that day and agrees a time with you
  2. The doctor consults with you over the phone and gives you advice, possibly preparing a prescription for collection
  3. The doctor asks you to make an appointment on a future date either with a GP of another member of the clinical team, such as a practice nurse

We have found that using a triage system allows us to consult with more patients and in a way that is often more convenient to the patient by avoiding the need to come to the surgery when it is not required.
