Since 1st April 2013 our extended hours are as follows:
We provide 2 hours of extended hours on Monday evening. We have two GP's covering these sessions. The sessions are for pre-booked and urgent appointments. .
The practice operates a triage system for on the day requests. This means when you are ill and feel you need to see a doctor the same day. Please call the practice and following a brief conversation with the receptionist, you will be added to the triage list. The duty doctor will work through that list by telephoning each patient. It is not possible to give you an exact time of when the doctor will call, so please make sure the recption team are aware of your contact details for that day. As a result of the telephone call there will be an outcome which could be one of the following:
We have found that using a triage system allows us to consult with more patients and in a way that is often more convenient to the patient by avoiding the need to come to the surgery when it is not required.
You can make a routine appointment to see your Doctor during normal surgery hours by telephoning 023 92580363. Each appointment is for one patient only and is limited to discussing 2 or 3 medical areas because it is for l0 minutes only, if you feel you need longer you can book a double appointment (20 mins). It is important that your doctor adheres to this time as it will delay other patients if the time is exceeded. Please help by preparing for your appointment and bring along your usual medication. If you are unable to keep your appointment you are expected to inform the practice so that the appointment can be offered to another patient.
Urgent appointments are released each morning between 8.00am and 11 .00am. If you require an urgent appointment please telephone the surgery between 8.00arn and 8.30am, these appointments are for urgent medical problems only. If you require urgent medical attention when the practice is closed please telephone 0300 300 2012 and you will be given details on how to contact the Duty Emergency Doctor, who will decide if you need to be seen.
If you require medical advice you can also telephone NHS Direct on 0845 4647. website www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk
Missed Appointments Up to 80 Patients a month fail to keep their appointments, this is a waste of valuable Doctor and Nurse time. Please ring the Practice so the appointment can be offered to someone else or let us know by using our online cancellation form
Home visits are for seriously ill and housebound patients only. If you are unable to come to the surgery because of the nature of your illness, please telephone 023 92580363 before l0am if possible and make a request for the Doctor to visit you at home.
Please remember home visiting is very time consuming and is the least efficient use of Doctors time.
Your attendance at the Surgery is preferred whenever possible.
You may speak to a Doctor or Practice Nurse on the telephone if you feel this will avoid you taking up an appointment unnecessarily. Our receptionists will advise you of the best time to call.
